It is clubs across the continent, whose domestic leagues have struggled to keep pace with the Premier League's financial might, who have been most vocal in arguing for a new competition.
The newspaper says leaked documents reveal clubs discussed leaving their national leagues and football associations.
"The European Leagues note the ongoing rumours and speculation around the possible creation of a European Super League by several big European professional clubs", read a statement from the organization.
Infantino said his plan - potentially featuring at least 12 European clubs in a 24-team line-up, and worth a promised $US3 billion ($A4.1 billion) every four years - was a good alternative to a private closed league.
It remains to be seen how the proposed European Super League would function due to an agreement between UEFA and the European Club Association that runs until 2022, the year after the proposed start of the new division.
"Proposals to create a closed Super League would have serious and enduring consequences for the sustainability of professional football in Europe", it added.
German magazine Der Spiegel and European Investigative Collaborations, a network of worldwide media, reported last week that plans for a Super League, involving top clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, were back on the table.
Founded in 2005, the organisation said it "shares with UEFA the common principle of protecting and enhancing competitive balance in European football".
In their statement addressing the super-league claims, Bayern criticised Der Spiegel's reporting.
"FC Bayern is also unaware of why it is listed in a document quoted in this context by Der Spiegel".
"I'm confused about the coverage", Bayern chairman Rummenigge, who is also honorary chairman of the European Club Association (ECA), told Sky.
"We (Bayern) stand totally behind our membership in the Bundesliga and also in the Uefa competitions".
"We have never questioned that".
"I can only say the whole article has a tabloid style, containing half-truths and untruths, which do not correspond to the facts".
