Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths, behind lung cancer, and the second-most-common form of cancer among women, behind skin cancer.
While breast cancer rates are higher among women in more developed regions, rates are increasing in almost every region globally, the World Health Organization said. Some also expressed how helpful it was that their clergy prayed for them and reminded them "God was going to see me through".
"I call them and motivate them".
"Genetic counselling can be very helpful for those who have a strong family history of breast cancer".
"If I feel anything on my body, I rush to the doctor".
They did so by providing customers with the opportinunity to have complimentary breast examinations done in store.
Third, women described situations where the support from others was unhelpful.
"(Everyone was) trying to do too much ... sometimes you just have to say "back off, I'm okay". In the United States, the average age of diagnosis is 62 years.
They taught students, "fight cancer" chants and marched around the campus with them to raise awareness and make a difference.

As the event continued throughout the evening, Zeta Tau Alpha welcomed guest speaker, Christine Barwick, to the center of the Eleanor Searle Drawing Room to share a piece of her personal battle with breast cancer and the advice she has for students here at FSC.
"Previous works linked increased risk of some types of cancer to higher processed meat intake, and this recent meta-analysis suggests that processed meat consumption may also increase breast cancer risk", Maryam Farvid, the study's lead author and a researcher at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said in a press release.
Family and friends should also be aware that survivors' support needs may change over time.
How does one check their breasts? Barwick advocates for beginning to build a bridge between the awareness of breast cancer and research and using resources to develop a cure for breast cancer.
The Society hopes that the community will not lapse in its efforts to prioritise their health and be proactive in seeking medical advice while never ceasing to persevere in asking the necessary questions that they will ultimately receive the treatment against cancer.
