USA: 20 morts dans un a accident de limousine à New York

Des détails précis sur l'accident mortel sont encore élucidé, et le National Transportation Safety Board sera examiné pendant plusieurs jours afin de déterminer la cause de l'incident.

La police de l'Etat de New York a précisé lors d'une conférence de presse dimanche que la limousine Ford a visiblement brûlé un feu rouge et est entrée en collision avec une voiture stationnée.

La limousine impliquée samedi dans l'accident de transport le plus meurtrier aux Etats-Unis depuis 2009 avait été recalée au contrôle technique et son conducteur n'avait pas le permis requis, a affirmé lundi le gouverneur de l'Etat de New York.

Les noms des 20 victimes ont pas encore été officiellement publié en tant que plus proche parent étaient encore contacté.


La limousine avait été louée pour fêter un anniversaire et non un mariage comme indiqué initialement par des médias locaux.

Selon cette source, les services d'urgence ont été alertés samedi à 13h55 à la suite d'un accident impliquant deux automobiles à une intersection.

"Nos cœurs en deuil pour les familles des victimes, de nos clients qui ont essayé de l'aider, et de notre personnel, qui ont tout fait pour le confort", dit le magasin de propriétaires sur Facebook. " Cette limousine roulait probablement à plus de 90 km/h". Comme d'autres, Mme Kirby a souligné que l'intersection était connue pour être dangereuse, l'une des deux routes descendant en pente forte vers l'intersection.

Le magasin, qui vend un peu de tout et fait partie des attractions pour les touristes qui se rendent dans cette région de lacs et de forêts, était ouvert dimanche malgré la catastrophe.
