Russian Federation says it will never launch a preemptive nuclear strike.
The United States on Thursday downgraded the status of its main diplomatic mission to the Palestinians by placing it under the authority of the U.S. Embassy to Israel.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the consulate general, a separate office which handled dealings with the Palestinians, would be replaced by a new Palestinian Affairs Unit inside the controversial new US embassy in Jerusalem.
"Palestine will not remain silent and will take all necessary steps in response. He is practically saying Jerusalem is for Israel".
The consulate-general in Jerusalem is the top mission for Palestinians, who want East Jerusalem for their capital.
A senior State Department official stressed the decision is an administrative one created to improve efficiency in operations.
This decision "does not signal a change of USA policy on Jerusalem, the West Bank, or the Gaza Strip", the statement added.
On December 21 a year ago, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution that calls on the U.S. to withdraw its controversial policy shift.
For years, the consulate has served as a defacto embassy to the Palestinians, reporting straight to the State Department in Washington.
"The US administration has fully endorsed Israeli narratives on al-Quds, Palestinian refugees and settlements", he stated on Thursday.
But as the consulate is seen as the unofficial embassy to Palestinians, the move will be interpreted as another major blow from the Trump administrations against Palestinian aspirations for an end to occupation and their hopes of a state.
More than 200,000 Israelis now live in the Palestinian eastern part of the city and its future is one of the thorniest issues in the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
Trump's embassy move represented a significant break in U.S. policy on the status of Jerusalem and the Palestinians have argued it endangered a two-state peace solution.
Relations between the sides have been tense since President Donald Trump made a decision to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, recognising the city as Israel's capital despite its status being disputed by the global community and Palestinian claims that East Jerusalem should be the capital of their own state as part of a negotiated two-state solution.
He said the Trump administration was "strongly committed to achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace that offers a brighter future to Israel and the Palestinians". Both moves were met with protests from Palestinians, some of which turned violent.
"Now, he is cutting the last connection he is said to have with the Palestinian people".
Since he became USA ambassador to Israel, Friedman, a longtime supporter and fundraiser for the West Bank settlement movement, had argued he should have authority over the consulate, which for decades has operated differently than nearly every other US consulate around the world.
"As far I know this is unprecedented".
A picture taken on October 18, 2018 shows the United States consulate in Jerusalem al-Quds.
His son-in-law Jared Kushner, alongside Friedman and peace envoy Jason Greenblatt, have been working for months on a still-secret peace proposal.
During the past year, Washington has recognised the contested city of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and sought to dismantle vital USA engagement with the Palestinians, including slashing humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees and shuttering their diplomatic offices in DC.
