Tanushree has alleged that Patekar had misbehaved with her on the sets of "Horn Ok Pleassss' in 2008 while shooting for a special dance number for the movie".
The investigation is at a preliminary stage.
"As part of the probe, we will record statements of all witnesses related to the case before summoning the accused", he said.
Back in 2008, Tanushree's father Tapan Kumar Dutta had filed an FIR when she allegedly underwent the ordeal and her vehicle was attacked while exiting the sets of "Horn Ok Pleasss". Besides Nana Patekar, the FIR has also been lodged against director Rakesh Sarang, producer Sami Siddiqui and choreographer Ganesh Acharya under Section 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
She said she had complained to Ganesh Acharya but was forced to do scenes which were intimate and included Patekar touching her inappropriately. The actor has broken his silence on the #MeToo movement raging across the country and said that women shouldn't be subjected to misbehaviour at workplace.
Meanwhile, a group of women activists staged a protest outside the Oshiwara Police Station, demanding proper investigation into the case and arrest of Patekar, if the allegations against him were found to be correct. After she made a decision to walk out of the film, her auto was vandalised by goons, which she alleged were from the Raj Thackeray-led MNS.
Police said the sequents of events mentioned in Dutta's complaint will be verified and a detailed preliminary inquiry will be conducted. As a retort, Patekar slapped Dutta with a legal notice and demanded a written apology from her.
