The Eagles made things interesting in the second half on Sunday, but even before they found themselves in a three-score hole midway through the third quarter, there wasn't much commitment to the running game. Playing his third game since returning from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, Wentz still hasn't found a rhythm after finishing third in NFL MVP voting last season. Two plays later, Cousins hit Adam Thielen with a 3-yard scoring play and a Vikings' commanding 17-3 halftime lead. With more discipline and a few more plays here and there the Eagles can certainly round into form. That drive ended with Wentz being strip-sacked by Stephen Weatherly; Wentz lost the ball and it was recovered by Linval Joseph (who gave us big man touchdown and big man recovery). Latavius Murray will take over as the Vikings lead back.
"We can't have that", Pederson said. "I do think when we picked our spots, we were pretty efficient".
Pressure will continue to mount in this city that expected another strong season. The veteran team we have with the guys, I'm confident that we'll fix it and turn it around. "Little mistakes like that - really, the same thing happened last week".
The Vikings (2-2-1) got an excellent performance from Cousins, who completed 30 of 37 passes, to avoid falling further behind in the NFC North. Cousins became the first player in National Football League history to complete at least 30 passes in four consecutive games.
Carson Wentz's overall numbers - a 68.6 completion percentage, 8.9 yards per attempts, 2 touchdowns - were impressive.
Sunday against the Vikings, the Eagles ran just 19 offensive plays in the first half for 91 total yards. "Maybe there were some runs I'd like to get back, but I think I did my part in helping this team win". Granted, some luck came into play today with Dan Bailey shanking a short field goal, but the Eagles giving up big yards on the game's opening drive is nothing new. "But we believed that, so we just did what we did". This is a totally new season, new team, everything about it as we are finding out. "At the same time, we have to be accountable". The Eagles did eventually score to put 21 points on the board, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vikings as Minnesota recovered an onside kick to ice a 23-21 win.
"We didn't have any continuity at the end of last season, and we won the Super Bowl, so I don't want to say it's the end-all-be-all, but it definitely helps", center Jason Kelce said.
