India has announced its squad for the first two ODIs against West Indies and it seems MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant have both made the squad, India captain Virat Kohli has not been rested which is a big news for the fans. While Pandya had injured his lower back in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan to be ruled out of the tournament, Jadhav won India the title with an injured hamstring. The last time Shami played an ODI was in September 2017 against Australia. The explosive left-handed batsman, who followed his maiden Test ton at The Oval with a sparkling 92 in Rajkot in the first Test of the ongoing series, has been included purely as a batsman, while veteran gloveman MS Dhoni will continue to keep wickets. Thakur returned to the squad after recovering and playing a domestic one-day match for Mumbai against Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking 3 for 53 and scoring 30 off 14 balls in the match. Ravindra Jadeja is also expected to make it after his lion-hearted show as Axar Patel's replacement. The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been named in the Indian team.
Dinesh Karthik, on the other hand, was axed after a dismal performance in the Asia Cup.
India would also look to address the festering middle-order woes against the touring Caribbeans. India thrashed West Indies by an innings and 272 runs to win the Test. Delhi wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been included in the team. The first ODI will be played on October 21 in Guwahati at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, whereas the second game will be hosted by the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on October 24.
