As women are telling their sexual harassment stories all around India, the #MeToo movement has brought many shocking stories in the limelight.
The television channel's statement says a replacement will be found for him who will join the other two judges on the show, Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar.
Now according to the latest developments, Malik has exclusively given out a statement to Pinkvilla saying that he is taking a break from the show. She alleged that once in a cabin at a studio, Anu Malik told her he would give her a song with Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan "but first give me a kiss now".
The music composer's response comes after sources claimed that Sony TV, on which the show airs, has asked him to step down as a judge for "Indian Idol 10".
On Wednesday morning, Shweta shared the incident on Twitter according to which Malik allegedly made sexual advances towards her. "Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up - its now or never". In an interview with Mid-Day, the two survivors narrated the story of being assaulted and harassed by Anu Malik.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Anu Malik said that he has chose to take a break from Indian Idol as he is now unable to focus on his work, his music and the show. "My client respects the #MeToo movement, but to use this movement to start a character assassination mission is obnoxious", Malik's lawyer Zulfiquar Memon had told IANS.
Noted lyricist Sameer Anjaan also came to Malik's defence and tweeted that he was present during the time Pandit is talking about but no such incident took place.
