"I might be insane, I don't care", the cornerback said of those people who might think he's insane to suggest that Gronkowski is overrated.
But this afternoon was back to his outspoken self, lambasting any opposition who flex on his turf, including the virtually "unguardable" Gronkowski. I'm sure I'm gonna have opportunities go against him. Or however it goes. They've got the same players, similar scheme - I mean, as good as any defense we'll face all year.
When the reporter started to ask about Gronkowski again, Ramsey answered quickly. History suggests that Ramsey, the linebacker corps, and the rest of the secondary were the victors in that matchup, even though the Patriots were the better team overall.
Ramsey was a first-team All-Pro in his second year in the league last season, but had a relatively quiet AFC title game against New England.
This week's Jags-Pats matchup takes place on Sunday at 4:25 pm. "You've always got to anticipate, and playing with energy and enthusiasm are all part of the game". "You gotta play it - I don't believe in having friends on the field", he said. Ramsey asked. "I don't fear no man". "If my brother, my dad, my mom or my grandma was out there, it's on". Football's not a game being nice to each other and all that - like kumbaya ... I'm sure he's going to have opportunities to go versus me.
"To respect the game, you have to play it fierce", Ramsey said.
"I definitely expect him to be covered up on me at least a couple times throughout the game", Gronkowski predicted. "But after the game's over with, that's cool".
"He's good, but like, you saying this to me, is this supposed to bring fear to me or something?"
Ramsey's challenge comes just days after he was torched by the Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. for 11 catches and 111 yards in Week 1, and after Gronkowski hauled in seven of his eight targets for 123 yards and a touchdown in a 27-20 win over the Texans. She know that. My grandma knows that.
It is simply a ploy for Ramsey to get inside the opponent's head as he has voiced his opinions about several notable offensive players around the league where he has bashed their abilities on the field.
"I feel like you have to respect the game of football. Grandma might not get up from one of my licks". Whoever goes against him, I'm very confident they'll hold it down. I'm very confident in all of my teammates on the defensive side of the ball.
