Rashford, 20, performed admirably on global duty with two goals in as many games against Spain and Switzerland which promoted Alan Shearer and Jamie Carragher to question his future at United.
The Premier League legends claimed his development under Mourinho will be stifled due to the lack of game time afforded to him in his favoured central striking role.
Mourinho revealed the club's doctor has confirmed Shaw's availability from a medical perspective, but added he has not decided whether he will deploy the left-back against Watford on Saturday.
"Because some of the [media] boys are really obsessed with me".
"I can imagine on Sunday I am going to be criticised for not playing Marcus, but it is not my fault, he's suspended, so probably you should remind them that he is suspended and cannot play".
"He is Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United player, with an incredible number of appearances and an incredible number of minutes played at the highest level in the best possible competitions".
The Portuguese coach then reeled off a stream of statistics detailing Rashford's 105 appearances in Mourinho's first two seasons in charge before pointedly suggesting other managers should be quizzed for their use of young English players.
"He had 53 appearances but if you want to take to the mins of play, he played 3,068 minutes and if you wan to divide that by 90 minutes of the matches, he played 34.2 matches of 90 min matches in 16-17".
"In 17-18, he played 35 matches in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, five in the FA Cup, including the final, three LC matches and the European Super Cup". If you divide that into 90 minutes, it gives 29.7 matches.
"I don't know (if he'll play)", Mourinho said. "Only if injured or suspended, he was never ever out of a selection".
Wright said that Marouane Fellaini was capable of starring for the Red Devils to victories.
"The only situation we have to analyse is if you are going to play him when during the week he was not training with the team".
