Lashing out at the Congress, the Prime Minister said it is, unlike the BJP, a one family party. Our children must be kept away from politics. What will college and school students gain by knowing about an illiterate and unsophisticated person like Modi, " Nirupam had said on Wednesday. Though Aiyar was suspended from the Congress after he used derogatory words against Modi ahead of the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections, there are several Congress leaders who haven't learnt from their past mistakes. Expressing his dissatisfaction over the forcible screening of some film on Modi, Nirupam said our children shouldn't watch such films because they are unaware of the PM's educational qualification. He added that children and people do not know how many degrees the prime minister holds. "What are the forces which pressurise Delhi University not to release his degree, even when it's claimed he studied there", he asked.
Reacting to Nirupam's remarks, Shaina NC tweeted, "Yet another abnoxious comment by a mentally deranged @sanjaynirupam".
Hitting back at Congress leader, BJP party spokesperson Shaina NC, called Nirupam's comments "obnoxious" and said he was "mentally deranged".
BJP MP Anil Shirole wrote, "PM is not a representative of one party, he is the Prime Minister of the Country and it's people". @sanjaynirupam by insulting our PM you have insulted and disrespected the office, the country and the constitution drafted by Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar ji (sic).
Nirupam called the prime minister "illiterate" and "uncultured" while attacking the BJP government in Maharashtra, while he was criticising its decision to screen a 32-minute film based on Modi's early life - named "Chalo Jeete Hai" - in the state's schools.
A report by PTI said that district schools in Maharashtra had been asked to screen the short film Chalo Jeete Hai on 18 September arguing that it had a "social message" and would inspire students.
Opposition Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have slammed the BJP-led dispensation over the decision.
