The 31-year-old performer, born Shad Moss, revealed that his addiction to 'lean, ' a cough syrup and soda concoction, almost killed him.
'To the youth- Stop with these dumb ass drugs, ' he wrote on Twitter this week. "Im over everything. Mentally i feel detached im in so much pain bro", he added.
He further said he was high from drinking lean every day while working on his 2007 album with singer Omarion, Face Off. While listing different moments where he was high he confessed, "The entire time I was on the UCP visit with chris I WAS SIPPING 4's atleast7 times each day [sic]". I never thought rapping about my addiction in a song is what i wanted so i kept it private but now after all these yrs yall see why i was so angry during this point of my life. He then recalled using the drug several times a day while he was on tour with Chris Brown. "It was summer but i was walking round with 3 hoodies on because i was so cold", he said. "I missed the chicago show of that tour baltimore show BECAUSE I WAS FUCKING HIGH AND SICK! that shit is not cool and i was doing it to be cool!" We want you here. "I nearly died f*cking with syrup", he wrote. To this day im affected my stomach will never be the same and it hasnt been. Never be the same and it hasnt been.
