A reporter with WSMV says Jackson's son-in-law fell off of a dock last week while in Florida.
Ben Selecman was married to Jackson's 28-year-old daughter, Mattie Jackson Selecman.
A promising young attorney in the Tennessee district attorney's office who was also the son-in-law of country star Alan Jackson passed away on Wednesday in West Palm Beach.
He earned his law degree at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and was employed as an Assistant D.A.by the Nashville-Davidson County District Attorney's Office.
Details of the accident that claimed Selecman's life are scarce, but according to The Tennesseean, Selecman was on a boat dock in Jupiter, Florida, on September 12, when he suffered the fatal injury.
Jackson's post didn't offer details as to what Selecman was doing in the West Palm Beach area but said, "the Jackson and Selecman families ask for - and appreciate - prayers during this hard time". "He will be truly missed".
For their wedding, the pair went for a simple-yet-refined approach that showcased both the bride and groom's genteel Southern tastes. We reconnected 2 years later while he spent a summer clerking for a judge in Nashville during law school. "He asked me out, and I said no, but he didn't give up", she recalled.
"Three months later, he called", she said. I finally relented, so he drove nearly 4 hours just for dinner and we've talked every day since. "In one of the stories for the magazine, Mattie talked about planning their "dream wedding", saying while Selecman pitched in on the prep, his take on the event was, "'Whatever makes you happy, '" she recalled. He pursued me until I finally saw the handsome, outgoing, Godly guy I needed.
