Unai Emery declares the beginning of a ‘new way’ for the Gunners

The players will train at the stadium today ahead of tomorrow's opener against Manchester City - a departure from the traditional methods employed by his predecessor.

"It's a new way, a new process".

Mourinho warned United could face a "difficult" season if the club failed to sign new players, but he is insisting he will be content to work with the players in his squad in comments that may not reveal his true feelings after a disappointing few weeks of transfer business.

The return of Benjamin Mendy from a long-term injury will feel like a new signing, as will Aymeric Laporte who struggled to cement himself in the starting XI but with a full pre-season under his belt, he will now look to kick on. "If we are good and consistent like last season then we have a good chance". He spoke of the need for Arsenal to show fresh energy and a keen understanding of his tactics, and for supporters to rally around the new approach.

Emery has got his work cut out, with most critics claiming Wenger hung on too long. "It is very exciting, a great match to start with", he said.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying, and it is sometimes hard to believe, that I won eight championships and three Premier League's but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

"But then we are going to watch how the team responds against Manchester City". He gave us his commitment to this project.


Emery is set to keep Laurent Koscielny as his captain.

The new boss has named the pair as two of five captains for the new season.

Koscielny will serve as "No 1 captain" but is likely to be out of action until the new year because of injury.

As such, he is standing by the complaints that soundtracked United's pre-season fixtures.

"But I like to play more against him because it's demanding for your preparation to try to win against his teams". The representation for every player and in every time in the season the capacity to do that.

"Not only the players in the captain's group".
