The undefeated heavyweight champion was present at the weigh-ins, in the Northern Irish city, for Fury's second comeback fight in Belfast on Saturday night and was caught on camera having a furious confrontation with the former champ.
Fury excelled in rounds 6-10 as he out-landed Pianeta 71-21 overall en route to connect leads of 107-37 overall, 7-1 jabs and 100-36 power.
The two sporting superstars were all smiles as they laughed ringside ahead of Tyson Fury's fight against Francesco Pianeta in Belfast. The former world champion, returning for the second time after 30 months away due to a drug ban, weighed in at 18st 6lbs yesterday, and promptly ignored his opponent, indulging instead in a verbal slanging match with the American Deontay Wilder, the World Boxing Council heavyweight champion, who will work as an analyst with the USA broadcasters Showtime from ringside.
Wilder's manager Shelly Finkel told BBC Sport the bout will be in "November or December in NY or Las Vegas".
After being awarded the win, Fury paraded in the ring with Wilder's WBC belt.
There was much less to impress Wilder once the action got underway as Fury failed to land a knockout blow.
The American appeared after Fury tipped the scales at 18 stone, six pounds - over 18lbs lighter than he was at for his victory over Sefer Seferi in Manchester on June 9 - and entered into a shouting match with Fury's father, John, who had to be held back on the stage.
Both fighters are yet to comment on the matter but this could be the start of yet another boxing feud.
"I think it was a calculated boxing performance", Fury said.
His team had been negotiating to fight WBA, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua but talks fell through.
The first fight of his return was an nearly comical bout against Albanian cruiserweight Sefer Seferi in June, which ended after the fourth round when Fury's opponent quit.
But not everyone in British boxing shares Fury's confidence. "It's no secret that we needed to get in the rounds". This was a step up in opponent and a better display. "You are going to feel the experience of being knocked out by the Bronze Bomber". "I went 10 rounds with a good, tough man who was quite durable". As the rounds progressed, Fury cranked up the pressure and began sitting down on his punches.
