In response, Mr Trump has criticised Harley-Davidson, calling for higher, targeted taxes and threatening to lure foreign producers to the United States to increase competition.
Harley-Davidson was encouraged by President Trump to have its production completely in the United States.
Mr. Trump met Saturday with a group of bikers who support him, posing for pictures with about 180 bikers at his golf resort in Bedminster, N.J., where he is on vacation. For instance, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, economist Douglas Irwin pointed out that Trump views economic policy like a businessman would.
