The former India captain recently played his 500th worldwide game against England, which put him in the company of elites such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. In fact, the 37-year old is so good in hiding his emotions that he has earned the nickname of Captain Cool. However, the process wasn't as easy as it looks for sometimes for they had to listen to some harsh words from the seasoned campaigner whenever they failed to comply with the former captain's suggestion.
During an episode of What The Duck, he narrated the entire incident to cricket journalist and anchor Vikram Sathaye. Kuldeep revealed how hard the Srilankan batsmen were going at him and even the mistimed shots were traveling out of the boundary.
"Wherever I pitched the ball, it went for six".
This time around, India's prime wrist spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, has gone back in time to recollect how Dhoni lost his cool at him while strategising against Sri Lanka during a limited-overs game in Indore in December 2017. Dhoni snapped at him and said, "I've played 300 matches, do you think I'm mad?" Mahi bhai came to me and said, "remove cover, move him deep and bring point up".
While India were desperately defending a 260-run target against the islanders in a crunch T20I game, Dhoni was giving regular tips to Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal from behind the stumps.
The change in field finally bore fruit as Kuldeep ended with figures of 54-3 in his quota after being smacked for 45 runs in his first three.
Kuldeep, who was in hurry to bowl his next delivery, said he was okay with the field.
