It's not an easy business growing the world's longest nails.
"Ripley's is privileged to display this truly unique and one-of-a-kind exhibit".
After growing his fingernails for 66 YEARS, the man with the world's longest fingernails has finally had them cut - and they've gone on display in NY!
The Indian man who is the 2016 Guinness Book of World Records title holder for having the "Longest Fingernails on a Single Hand Ever" will finally be cutting his fingernails which he started growing in 1952. "Chillal dedicated his life to something truly remarkable and Ripley's is the ideal home to honour his legacy".
Shridhar Chillal, an octogenarian from Pune, finally cut his nails after 66 years but his record of having the world's longest fingernails measuring over 31 feet has left his hand suffering a permanent physical disability.
"I don't know whether the teacher is dead now or not but I would definitely like to say that the thing for which you scolded me, I took it as a challenge and I have completed the challenge and now, I am here", Chillal told Reuters.
Despite his abnormally long nails: Chillal got married, had two kids, and worked as a government press photographer.
But now look! He has had them cut and they have gone on display at Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum of weird and wonderful things in NY in the US.
The weight and length of Chillal's fingernails made him lose function in his left hand. Times Square museum features 20 galleries and more than 500 artefacts from around the world. It is not known how much Chillal was compensated for his extraordinary nails.
