Following the press conference, Roberts issued a statement defending Kristen Welker, NBC and CNN while also criticizing Trump's comments.
Roberts then began putting his question to the president through the microphone provided to him as the reporter granted a question by the president.

Trump lashed out at CNN after reporter Jim Acosta tried to ask him a question.
Still, Trump's insistence on painting the media as "the enemy of the American people" isn't likely to let up any time soon. "She is as honest as the day is long", he said.
