Rougeole : troisième décès en France en 6 mois

"C'est le 2e décès causé par la rougeole en Nouvelle Aquitaine et le 3e en France depuis novembre 2017", indique l'Agence régionale de santé (ARS).

L'Agence régionale de santé (ARS) Nouvelle-Aquitaine annonce ce vendredi avoir " été informée par le CHU de Bordeaux du décès d'une jeune fille de 17 ans des suites de complications neurologiques provoquées par la rougeole.

Selon l'ARS, depuis le 6 novembre 2017, 2.576 cas de rougeole ont été confirmés en France, dont 1.096 en Nouvelle-Aquitaine, et 90% des cas "n'étaient pas ou insuffisamment vaccinés (deux doses nécessaires)".

La rougeole avait déjà tué une mère de famille de 32 ans qui n'avait jamais été vaccinée à Poitiers au mois de février.

Fin juin, l'agence Santé publique France avait annoncé le décès dû à la rougeole d'un patient de 26 ans. "Un cas sur quatre a nécessité une hospitalisation, douze patients ont été transférés en réanimation et deux sont décédés (trois en France)". " Près de 90 % de ces cas n'étaient pas ou insuffisamment vaccinés [2 doses nécessaires] ", souligne l'ARS. Toutefois, il faut rester très vigilant car la couverture vaccinale contre la rougeole reste insuffisante en Nouvelle-Aquitaine et de nouveaux foyers peuvent donc apparaître. Même si la France a évité une épidémie comme celle entre 2008 et 2012, touchant 24 000 personnes, des complications parfois graves telles que la méningo-encéphalite, la pneumopathie, et beaucoup d'autres peuvent survenir. "Il n'y a pas de traitement curatif contre le virus de la rougeole". Ce vaccin existe depuis 1968.

L'objectif des autorités sanitaires est d'atteindre, comme le recommande l'Organisation mondiale de la santé, 95 % de vaccination chez les personnes à risque. Le pays de Louis Pasteur se distingue aujourd'hui par un scepticisme contre les vaccins assez répandu dans sa population.

Le gouvernement a choisi la voie réglementaire pour renforcer la couverture vaccinale.
