The 32-year-old writer-actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to share side-by-side images of herself nearly a year apart. The photo on the left was taken in April 2017, where Dunham is noticeably thinner in a dark mini-dress and ankle boots.
"138 pounds, complimented all day and propositioned by men and on the cover of a tabloid about diets that work", she wrote.
She adds: "Also, sick in the tissue and in the head and subsisting only on small amounts of sugar, tons of caffeine and a purse pharmacy".
"Throughout my teens I was told, in no uncertain terms, that I was fucking amusing looking", she wrote of herself a year ago.
The number 24 may not seem significant to most people, but to Lena Dunham, it's the difference between her low and current weights. "As I type I can feel my back fat rolling up under my shoulder blades".
It's important to note that Dunham has endometriosis, a condition that occurs when tissue grows outside of the uterus and often causes heavy periods and uterine pain, according to the Endometriosis Foundation of America. However, the moment passes when she remembers how free she feels today.
"When endometriosis entered my life full throttle, I knew I had to make some adjustments as I dealt with a chronic disease, but it was hard to admit those changes might be dietary", she wrote.
"I feel good in my 175 pound body, round and cushiony". I just want to have a stronger core. Dunham, who suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, told Anderson her program helped her manage that, too. "Thank you sweet being!" one person commented. "It's just so insane because I spent six years of my career being called things like "bag of milk" on the internet".
