U.S. President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, who also serves as a White House assistant to the President, walks through the halls of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington on July 12, 2018.
The Hudson's Bay Company says it will no longer carry Ivanka Trump's clothing line at its stores and has already dropped the brand from its website. "Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn't make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now".
The move by Hudson's Bay - a chain that describes itself as "Canada's iconic department store" - comes after more than a year of consumer pressure, including demonstrations organised by a group calling themselves the "Peeved Beavers".
"Hudson's Bay is phasing out this brand through the fall based on its performance", Meghan Biango, a Hudson's Bay representative, told Refinery29.
It appears that Saks Off Fifth also may be phasing out the brand.
"As part of our regular course of business, we review our merchandise offerings and make appropriate changes", said HBC.
The Canadian department store, which removed 150 Ivanka Trump items from its website, is one of 24 retailers that Coulter says have stopped carrying products associated with the us president's family.
There are suddenly zero Ivanka Trump items on the @hudsonsbay website.
So, while Hudson's Bay's decision to drop the line may not have been explicitly politically motivated, the things that led the brand to perform poorly certainly were - and, chances are, it won't be the last store to drop Ivanka Trump, either. How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
