Syrian rebels in Daraa, the southern city, say their districts are being besieged by the Syrian military, and that they believe the fall of the city outright is imminent.
That deal come after a ceasefire announced last week stemmed almost three weeks of regime bombardment on the symbolic wider province of the same name, which borders Jordan.
A handout picture released by the official SANA on July 12, 2018, show Syrian men waving their national flag near Daraa city council. "By this win, the government reclaimed the control of its border with Jordan and the border crossing to start global trade", she said.
Two armored vehicles with senior Russian officers entered the al- Shayah area and began talks with commanders from the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) on implementing the terms of the surrender deal.
Zaizun lies near a sliver of southern territory controlled by Jaish Khaled bin Walid, a jihadist faction that has pledged allegiance to IS, which is not bound by the deal between the rebels and the government. The talks were expected to resume on Thursday. Rebels in Deraa were seeking to withdraw with Russian guarantees.
Separately on Thursday, Syrian forces liberated the cities of Mazirib, Enkhel, Kafr Shams and Tafas, all situated in Dara'a Province.
Rebels are pinning hopes on the Russian military police to prevent the army from taking revenge and entering specific areas after complaints of widespread looting and some arrests in other towns in Daraa province they have gained control.
The current progress comes after controlling all the borders with Jordan, the report said, adding that the Syrian regime helicopters dropped warning leaflets on Al-Hara village in the northwestern Daraa countryside where the highest hill in the city is located.
"The rebels are still inside Daraa city", Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said, but had not yet handed over their heavy weapons and there were no signs of any evacuations.
