She also felt helpless, and wondered if she could have done more to prevent it. "We don't have to get golf carts, porta potties or garbage collection", Jackson said of the decision. She had previously had her gallbladder out, she said, so she didn't think too much about food disagreeing with her.

The night wrapped up with a Luminaria Ceremony, where loved ones were memorialized with decorated paper sacks arranged in a glowing pattern, and the Fight Back Ceremony.
Relay For Life coordinator Aimee Cassie is overwhelmed by the community's response to the yearly event.

"But Relay for Life is important because of the money it raises to critical cancer research", she said. "That's why we have to make sure people know they aren't alone".
Cade was just one of the many cancer survivor's at this year's relay.

"Putting together an event like this is not easy; it takes about a year of planning", said McMurter. More than 500 Luminaria have been dedicated this year.
"It's everything. The survivors - listening to their stories and their journeys".
The day she found the lump she visited a doctor and things moved very quickly. "One thing I've learned is that you may not know the person you are walking next to on the track, but you share the same connection in some abstract way, and that's a handsome thing to share together".
