Trump slams Robert De Niro as 'a very Low IQ individual'

Hours after industriously attempting to make peace in Singapore, US president Donald Trump made a decision to call actor Robert De Niro "a very low IQ individual" via Twitter.

President Trump has slammed Robert De Niro for his outburst at the Tony Awards.

He said he would move to Italy if Mr Trump was elected, and the town where his great-grandparents lived offered him "refuge" when this happened.

De Niro received a standing ovation by the audience.

De Niro has been an outspoken critic of Trump, even saying in May he barred the president from visiting any locations of his swanky restaurant, Nobu.

The Raging Bull actor's remarks were bleeped for more than 6 million Americans watching the awards show on CBS at home.

"I'm going to say one thing", he said, raising his fists in the air.

He did not elaborate on his comment. He delivered his response on his Twitter account while on his way back to the United States.

Trump's De Niro sentiment was expressed just one hour after he had tweeted, "Heading back home from Singapore after a truly unbelievable visit". I watched him last night and truly believe he may be "punch-drunk, '" Trump tweeted. At the 72nd annual Tony Awards on June 11, the Casino actor yelled out "f**k Trump", and like expected, POTUS is not happy. In January, De Niro referred to him as the "baby-in-chief" at the National Board of Review Awards.
