It was previously reported that 33-year-old prince, who claimed that the royals were the "family she's never had" in a BBC Radio 4 show over Christmas, is said to have won Meghan's 73-year-old father over with his kind personality.
"I can't think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles", he told GMB.
"Watching it was hard for me, because I wasn't there, but at the same time I'm watching my daughter being watched by the entire world".
"Meghan cried, I'm sure, and they both said, "take care of yourself, we are really anxious about you".
Markle's health problems allegedly occurred after news of staged paparazzi photos broke, with daughter Samantha Grant later taking responsibility for the unfortunate situation. I realised it was a serious mistake.
Prince Charles was forced to step in and do the honour of accompanying Meghan down the aisle after she walked part of the way on her own.
The couple turned out to see Harry's cousin (the late Princess Diana's niece), Celia McCorquodale, Wednesday George Woodhouse at St. Andrew and St. Mary's Church in Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire.
In an interview with ITV's Good Morning Britain, Mr Markle said: "They were disappointed".
Speaking about his treatment by the press, Markle told GMB that,"They'd take photos of me grabbing a beer, take photos of me getting into my auto. they'd take photos of me making me look negative".
Watching his "beautiful" daughter get hitched on a small TV from a rented hotel room left him in tears, he confessed.
"She was lovely, it was incredible watching her. I couldn't have been more proud", he said.
Thomas and Prince Harry are yet to meet in person but have spoken over the phone on numerous occasions.
Markle said he has been in touch with Harry and conversed with him over the phone multiple times, including that one time Harry asked for his daughter's hand.
On Christmas Day past year, when the then fiancée of Prince Harry attended a festive church service with the royal family in Sandringham, the American-born star accessorised her Sentaler caramel coat with a pair of chestnut gloves which cost just £17.50.
