The bet was that Xiaomi will outdo Gree Electronics Appliances in volume in five years. However, new leaks suggest that the company will launch the smartphone later this month.
On Thursday, the company Xiaomi officially presented in Russian Federation new model of frameless smartphone Redmi Note 5 Pro. There's no clarity on whether Xiaomi will launch Mi 7 as Mi 8, or separately announce Mi 8, making it their special anniversary edition phone, similar to how Apple did at its tenth anniversary with the iPhone X. After official confirmation of the bet from Jun and Mingzhu, Xiaomi co-founder and Senior VP Li Wanqiang posted on Weibo that the company will give away 100 Mi 8 smartphones. This further hints that Mi 7 could actually be the Mi 8, which means, Xiaomi may completely go on to ditch the Mi 7 and jump to 8 instead. Also, another image showcasing a front panel placed inside a plastic cover with Xiaomi Mi 8 mentioned over it surfaced via Slashleaks. All of this information are yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi. According to a new report, Xiaomi will host its annual product launch event on May 31, where it will launch the new handset. These dates are most likely to be for China. This smartphone is being rumored as the rebranded version of Mi 7 Plus. But then, you never know.
Mi MIX 2S also comes with integrated AI features, including an AI-enabled camera features and face-unlocking. With the Mi 7, Xiaomi is expected to follow the current on-going trend of having a notched display. Reports reveal that the Mi 7 could come with a 3D facial recognition tech that's as advanced and accurate as the iPhone X. Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the Xiaomi E6, and it's also worth saying that the device will not be called "Xiaomi E6" once it hits the market, of course, that is just its codename. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM.
