Paris Jackson praised her aunt Janet Jackson's Billboard Music Awards performance on social media, but when she wasn't seen in the audience alongside grandmother Katherine Jackson, brother Prince Jackson and aunt Rebbie Jackson while Janet accepted her Billboard Icon Award, fans questioned her family loyalty.
"Thank you for making me feel understood again", Swift said to her fans. "I stand with those women and with those men equally outraged by discrimination who support us in heart and mind", she said onstage.
She continued: "Every family has their moments of trauma, heartbreak, separation, love, oneness, tribe, pain, everything".
Anyone who has paid the slightest bit of attention to Janet Jackson's almost 40-year career already knows that she's a bona fide icon: Her legacy spans television and music, earning her 35 awards, and she has sold more than 100 million records.
Before presenting Jackson with the award, R&B singer, Bruno Mars told the crowd she "represents undeniable artistic genius".
It was a risky choice for a red carpet display as not only did the low plunging neckline mean Hailey had to make sure the gals stayed in place but she also had to watch that incredibly high split.
Jackson's honour comes just days after the 25th anniversary of her seminal album "Janet", along with an appearance on the cover of Billboard Magazine.
Luis Fonsi was passionate when he picked up top Hot 100 song for "Despacito", the biggest hit of the a year ago which also included Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber.
Amid ear-splitting screams from the audience, BTS jumped onto the stage and performed "Fake Love", a moody hip-hop track off its recently released Love Yourself: Tear album.
"So thank you so much, you're incredible". The Chainsmokers also paid tribute to Avicii when the duo won top dance/electronic artist.
Kelly Clarkson will host the three-hour awards show. "We're failing our communities".
Andrew Taggart added that he hopes the late DJ was able to find peace. Clarkson is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, about four hours north of Santa Fe.
