The vice president was in Benue state yesterday where he visited the Abagena IDPs camp along Makurdi Laafia road as well as RCM in Daudu of Guma local government area of the state.
Several communities in Benue, Taraba, Zamfara and Kaduna have suffered violent attacks in recent months as a result of conflicts between farmers and herders; as well as attacks by bandits.
Osinbajo is expected to visit the Abagana, Gbajimba and Anyii Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.
Makurdi - The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, on Tuesday disclosed that the federal government had approved the immediate release of N10 billion for the rebuilding and rehabilitation of communities ravaged by Fulani herdsmen-farmers' crises in Benue and other states.
He said Osinbajo also stated that the President asked him to oversee the rehabilitation of the affected communities.
Said he, "We want to ensure that all villages that have been destroyed and attached are secured. want to ensure that IDPs return to their homes but before then, places that were destroyed are rebuilt".
He assured the IDPs that all of their sufferings would henceforth come to an end.
He encouraged the people of the state to organize themselves to benefit from the micro credits for women and artisans as well as the Anchor-Borrowers program of the Federal Government.
The Vice President is visiting the state for an assessment of the humanitarian crisis following the killings.
Earlier, the Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Emmanuel Shior, informed the Vice President that a total of 175,070 people comprising of 80,450 children were inhabiting eight designated camps across the state while an ongoing data collection was being carried out to determine the actual numbers of displaced people taking shelter in places other than the approved camps.
Osinbajo said that the returns of the displaced persons back to their ancestral homes will be done immediately.
