Plans would have the building open by 2019 and would be central Ohio's sixth Amazon facility in addition to current facilities in Etna and Obetz and previously announced locations in North Randall and Monroe which are in the works for the end of this year.
In addition to the FCs that Amazon is now operating in Etna and Obetz, the company will launch operations at previously-announced facilities in North Randall and Monroe by the end of 2018, and in Euclid in 2019.
In a statement issued on Monday (14 May), Amazon said that the new FC will be based in West Jefferson and will create more than 1,500 full-time positions by the end of 2019.
According to the release, full-time employees at the company would receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, 401 (k) and company stock awards starting on day one.
"We are excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in West Jefferson, and to continue innovating in OH - a state committed to providing great opportunities for jobs and customer experience", said Mark Stewart, Amazon's Vice President of North America Customer Fulfillment. They also offer maternity and parental leave benefits.
Using methodology developed by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Amazon estimates its investments in OH have created an additional 9,000 indirect jobs on top of the company's direct hires.
