But this is not fiction.

But in online culture, "incel" means more than just a support group for the lonely and shy - it refers to a specific, insular, self-radicalized community with roots in the anti-feminist, misogynist "manosphere" and 4chan culture. These two men are unrelated, according to media accounts.
A "Chad" is a sexually active "alpha male" type who has sex with women - and is thus hated by "incels". "In practice this goes beyond simply having sex and enters the realm of having no possibility of finding a partner, either to get validation, love, or acceptance from", the site states.
With news that Minassian referenced the incel community, members have praised the Toronto killings. "Over the next number of days we will be doing that work".
Rodger, who killed himself after his bloody spree, is credited with turning chronic sexual rejection amongst disaffected young men into the raison d'être for an online forum.
Incels in the subreddit also advocated for rape or called the crime a "made-up construct", according to The Guardian.
The Incel reddit community was banned by the online platform in November 2017 for falling foul of its policy that bans any content that "encourages, glorifies, incites or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual or group of people". He later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The killer described his plans to carry out the shooting as "retribution". His main theme was his intractable virginity, which he blamed on "the cruelness of women". In recent months, an alt-right offshoot known as "Chad Nationalism", has attempted to court frustrated young men by peddling them white nationalist ideologies while providing them with encouragement and advice on obtaining a muscular "Chad" body. The first part of message refers to Canadian Army.
"All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!" reads the message on the account investigators believe belongs to Minassian, Campbell said.
While some posters questioned whether Minassian, 25, was a "fakecel"-the term for someone whose average looks disqualifies him from community membership-most hailed him as a hero of the movement". Another wrote: "Alek Minassian".
"Spread that name, speak of his sacrifice for our cause, worship him for he gave his life for our future", one poster wrote.
"It was like he was playing a video game, trying to kill as many people as possible", said Panna Patel, 42, who stopped by the memorial and had been at the scene a day earlier, getting cash from an ATM. CNN independently verified it. R9K is a board on 4chan where inceldom started.
Santa Barbara attacker Elliot Rodger wrote, 'It's an injustice, a crime because I don't know what you don't see in me, I'm the ideal guy and yet you throw yourselves at all these obnoxious men instead of me, the supreme gentleman. During attack, Lépine pointed out that he was fighting feminism. He or she noted that Minassian had never posted in the forum and that no participants had heard of him before the rampage. Their sick glee was only exacerbated by the fact that most of the victims of the Toronto attack were women, including an 80-year-old grandmother who was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.
The incident prompted police to beef up security and close several streets around the Air Canada Centre on Monday night for the Toronto-Boston NHL playoff game.
