In a month's time, Star Wars will return to the big screen as Disney and Lucasfilm unleash their second Anthology spinoff movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, which explores the backstory to everyone's favourite smuggler Han Solo.
In an interview with Esquire, Ehrenreich let slip that his contract is in fact for three movies, before admitting that "I don't know if that's officially public". While it's not surprising that Lucasfilm has signed the actor on for more than one film, this is the first indication that the studio is considering further adventures of the young Solo. They left the movie during production in June previous year, following rumors of conflicts with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy. Ehrenreich confirmed that Lord and Miller's directing approach was a lot loose than that of replacement director Ron Howard.
"They had a different style than Ron in terms of the way we were working", he said. Multi-film deals are typically standard, and it also opens up the possibility for him to appear in other Anthology tales - the rumoured Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt movies, for example. "You don't know what it's shaping up to be, how they're editing it, so it's kind of impossible without having seen those things to know what the difference [of opinion] was, or exactly what created those differences".
The stand will be at Waterloo station until Sunday but will then go on a tour of the United Kingdom from there (we have reached out to Renault to see if they can give us an itinerary). "They had mentioned there were some disagreements before, but they didn't get into it". I managed to get some footage so that you can see what it looked like and give you an idea of where it is (which you can see below). On a personal level, it felt emotional, for them to be going after we'd set out on that course together. The reason? They were reportedly overwhelmed with the production, spent too much time improv'ing and going off-script, and as a result were not only falling behind schedule, but were skewing away from what Marvel wanted, and supposedly turning Han Solo into a bit of a clown.
