"Working on an email service is hard as you have to be compatible with all sorts of email providers and email clients". New design and features will be added in this update along with the ability to reply fast to emails, to snooze emails until later, and a new sidebar to place calendar appointments side by side with messages.
As per TechCrunch's report, this mode will prevent the receiver of the mail from forwarding, downloading, copying or pasting the email text. For now, TechCrunch's demos involved the use of Gmail even at the recipient's end, and whether it works as claimed in the final version is obviously to be seen. Gmail will let users configure expiration date for expiring mails such as a week, month, multiple years, and more.
Further helping to secure email communications, senders have the option to require the recipient to verify their identity with a passcode before opening an email sent in Confidential Mode. It is still not clear whether the Gmail service users will be able to send the confidential/self-destructing emails to the other email platforms or not. Notably, it looks like recipients of the confidential email will have to log into their Google accounts once again to read the email.
There has been no official announcement regarding the launch of this feature to the users in their entirety.
Gmail's expiring emails will most likely be deleted from the recipient's inbox once expires. Users will be able to select a date when the email will expire, after which the receiver will no longer be able to see the email. On the other hand, Google generates an email with a link in Gmail's current implementation.
End-to-end encryption is also not mentioned by Google anywhere. That means you never have to leave your inbox to create a to-do list or reschedule a meeting. Enter your email to be subscribed to our newsletter.
