But experts carrying out new tests in St Petersburg have uncovered some odd differences besides the three-fingered hands and toes, reports Sputnik.
"Right now we are making a detailed analysis to see if the shape of the position of all the chromosomes, of all the amino acids, coincides with ours", Professor Konstantin Korotkov of the Russian National Research University said, 9 News reported.
While the mummies of Peru have been largely dismissed as being hoaxed by the scientific community, conspiracy theorists are still fascinated by the "three fingered mummies" with elongated heads that were found in Peru past year. Their anatomic structure is different.
Each of the little mummies has two arms, two legs, a head, a pair of eyes and a mouth.
"Tomographic scans reveal their skeletons. The tissue has biological nature and their chemical composition indicates that they are humans", he added.
"All the four of them are males, each with a Y-chromosome". After Gaia.com, the organization behind the investigation and excavation, sent some of Maria's DNA to a lab in Canada, however, they found that the supposedly alien genetic material was a 100 percent match for human DNA, implying that the mummy was an ancient human corpse that was altered by graverobbers.
The anatomical structure of the mummies discovered near Nazca, in southern Peru, a year ago is not human, Russian scientists who were studying the case said.
"They (the male Verdant mummies) could be extraterrestrials or bio robots", the professor said.
"Maria and Vavita could have been representatives of a certain race which had possibly reached a stage of advancement much earlier than we did".
The video was posted by website Gaia.com which charges curious users money to view their exclusive paranormal content. Dr. Korotov also happens to be the same one who claimed in 2008 that he had a camera to capture the human soul.
However, British alien expert Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, has dismissed the conlusions as hoax.
Express.co.uk has asked Gaia.com for details about where the so-called alien mummies were discovered.
But Gaia.com failed to answer. Korotkov said he hopes the Peruvian government will allow them to bring back the mummies in Russian Federation in the future, which would help them break their DNA code, RT reported.
The organisers of the ninth annual World Congress on Mummy Studies, which took place in Lima, Peru, in August 2016, issued an angry call on Facebook for an official inquiry into whether archaeological crimes have been committed.
Prof Korotkov has examined mummies found by colleagues in Peru, which date back as far as 6,500 years.
