The third major nor'easter in two weeks is starting to slam the storm-battered Northeast with more than a foot of snow and high winds expected in some areas.
The city is projected to get 2 to 3 inches of snow by 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, while eastern stretches of Long Island can see up to 18 inches.
Now Monroe County is under a winter weather advisory as the National Weather Service says another storm could drop up to five inches of new snow.
The National Weather Service reports Sunday that a southern storm is expected to make its way up the coast causing more snowfall.
The latest storm, coming in the aftermath of two deadly nor'easters and resulting blackouts, is also expected to bring coastal flooding and powerful winds.
More power outages are possible, but they are not expected to be as widespread as last week. It is expected to changeover to wet snow before ending this evening. In the first nor'easter on March 2, it was torrential rains, very high tides and flooding which played the biggest role, leaving coastal areas inundated with water and entire neighborhoods badly damaged.
"As soon as the snow stops and the wind stops blowing, we will be pushing the utilities to give people a sense of when the power will come back on", Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker told reporters on Tuesday."They will move quickly and aggressively to deal with this once the snow stops".
Some school systems held classes at the start of the day, but announced early dismissals in advance of the storm.

The railroad said the service suspension would last until at least 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday and that service would resume when weather conditions allowed.
Little or no snow accumulation is forecast for Philadelphia and Washington.
While we anticipate the worst of the storm (snow/wind) will be in the morning, periods of heavy snow will continue through the afternoon.
Victor Nouhan, an weather service meteorologist in Caribou, said strong winds are less of a concern in ME, though some gale-force gusts might be felt along the immediate coast.
The third nor'easter to strike New York City in 10 days brought another batch of gusty winds to the area.
"Winter took its time getting here, but it looks like it's going to be hanging around for a while yet", Root said.
