The BJP leaders condemned Arvind Kejriwal government for failing to take any concrete steps to protect the interests of traders in Delhi.
"We have announced to break our alliance with the AAP. We can not be associated with a party whose main leader meekly surrendered by tendering apology to former minister Bikram Singh Majithia", LIP leader and MLA Simarjit Singh Bains said here today.
AAP MLA Aman Arora said he would ask Kejriwal why he tendered an apology.
Kejriwal also earned the wrath of the ruling Congress and SAD-BJP leaders, who accused him of being in the habit of making false allegations against his opponents to garner votes.
"One-on-one meeting should be held".
As many as 20 MLAs, including two legislators of the LIP, took part in the meeting in the morning, even as a few MLAs stayed away from the second round of the meeting held in the evening. We haven't been consulted on this meek surrender by a leader of his stature. Discussion took place on what should be our next course of action, what is the next option for us. "None of us would go to Delhi", declared Khaira.
"We don't have any objection with it (Jallikattu).I request the Centre to do whatever it can do to stop the sealing", the chief minister said. "One should try not to do anything that forces one to tender an apology", he said.
Another senior AAP leader Kanwar Sandhu also called it a let down.
Sandhu, however, said that he would not attend the meeting.
Responding to Gupta's accusation, Kejriwal said the Delhi government has appointed prominent lawyers, adding that if the leader of Opposition has anyone else in mind, the government will go ahead with them.
Sidhu - known to be Majithia's arch rival since his BJP days - has demanded SAD leader's immediate arrest besides a thorough probe on the basis of report submitted by the STF on drugs in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the seal cover, on Thursday, containing "prima facie fact findings" on the allegations against Majithia in the drug case.
The AAP poll plank in the run-up to the Assembly elections past year revolved largely around eradicating the drug menace.
"Kejriwal was leading the charge.in such circumstances, Kejriwals apology was painful, very unfortunate".
