Pop producer Naughty Boy, real name Shahid Khan, has been working with the former Girls Aloud singer on her comeback material, and isn't shy when it comes to discussing his newest collaborator.
"Sometimes I think it's people around her who might be selling stories".
Cheryl remains signed to its parent organisation Universal, reports The Sun, and is now looking for a new label to release her music. "Let the song come out".
Naughty Boy previously revealed that Cheryl had originally spoken to him at a party thrown by Simon Cowell and the pair later agreed to collaborate together.
'She does up to 12 hours a day and I just feel that shows how ready she is'.
'I feel it is going to be very special and meaningful'.
"There wasn't anyone left at Polydor who worked with her in the past so it seemed the right time for a change", they explained, with Cheryl's last album out in 2014.
A music insider told The Sun: "Cheryl is in the studio working hard on a fifth album but there are concerns she just isn't relevant in music any more".
"The label will let her release new music to coincide with her return to The X Factor later this year but she will be dropped soon after if it is not a hit".
"She still has a small group of core fans but they will not be enough to make this new music a success".
