The U.S. men's national team announced Monday a trio of friendlies against France, the Republic of Ireland and Paraguay.
"North Carolina Football Club, in coordination with the Town of Cary, is excited to host the U.S. Men's National Team vs. Paraguay game here at Sahlen's Stadium", said President and General Manager Curt Johnson. The game will take place at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park and is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. The USMNT also trained in Cary prior to the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups. Les Bleus, winners of the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship and runners-up in the 2016 Euros, have won all three of their meetings with the United States and hold a 10-0 advantage in goalscoring.
The US men's team will face World Cup-bound France in one of three friendlies before the finals in Russian Federation as they seek to fill in an empty schedule after they failed to qualify for the global showpiece for the first time since 1986.
Ultimate Fan Tickets (special VIP packages that include a premium ticket, a custom-made official U.S. National Team jersey with name and number, VIP access to the field before and after the game, and other unique benefits) are also available for both games exclusively through ussoccer.com. The US has only played in Cary once, a 1-1 tie with Jamaica on April, 11, 2006. The U.S. last faced Paraguay in the 2016 Copa America Centenario, with the Americans walking away 1-0 victors.
"The North Carolina soccer community has always offered great support to our National Teams", said MNT head coach Dave Sarachan. The World Cup finals run from June 14-July 15.
This will be the second time WakeMed Soccer Park has hosted a USA national soccer team match in a span of just over five months. Individual ticket purchases will be limited to six tickets per household and will not be sold at the stadium ticket office except on the day of the event, if any remain.
