Patrick J Adams has defended his former Suits co-star Meghan Markle and commended her "power and compassion" following a "sick" and racist post directed at the actress by United States politician Paul Nehlen.
Republican politician and Donald Trump supporter Nehlen reportedly superimposed a picture of Cheddar Man - the oldest skeleton to be recently found in the United Kingdom and was revealed to have dark skin - onto Meghan Markle's face. He wrote on his Twitter account, "Oh @pnehlen - you're a sad and sick man with no sense of shame or class. Get a life".
Nehlen posted the original tweet Friday which featured a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
It comes after the Cheddar Man - the name given to the oldest complete skeleton found in the United Kingdom - was revealed to have dark skin.
'Way above your weight class'.
Republican challenger Paul Nehlen's twitter account was suspended Sunday following a series of controversial tweets regarding Meghan Markle.
Meghan and Patrick became good friends after playing love interests Rachel Zane and Mike Ross on the popular American legal drama.
Twitter has in the past few months done "sweeps" of racist and abusive Twitter accounts as part of its bid to make the website more user-friendly.
Nehlen is campaigning to replace House Speaker Paul Ryan as representative of Wisconsin's 1st Congressional district in November's primary. I made a joke of it.
Before Meghan and Harry tie the knot, fans are expecting to Meghan and Patrick's characters get married on the show, with their much-anticipated wedding episode expected to take place between the 28 March and the 25 April - the show's finale - and a few weeks before Meghan's own wedding day on 19 May!
Markle, who is a mixed race, has been targeted by racist comments since it was revealed previous year that she is dating Prince Harry.
