Microsoft today announced Microsoft for Startups, a program which aims to help startups grow their customer base and also gain better access to technology.
Overall, Microsoft is committing $500 million (roughly 1.7 percent of its revenue last quarter) over the next two years to help startups as part of the program, through joint sales engagements, free software, and expanded Microsoft Reactor community spaces.
Up until now, Microsoft's BizSpark program operated in a similar fashion, but Microsoft for Startups appears to bring several entrepreneurial programs together under Charlotte Yarkoni, Microsoft's corporate vice president of growth and ecosystem.
Grow with unparalleled access to customers. Companies don't need to run exclusively on Microsoft's cloud, however.
Microsoft won't just throw startups in the deep end.
Cloud Marketplace Promotion & Sales Support: As your launchpad for your go-to-market partnership with Microsoft, our cloud marketplaces let you take advantage of promotional benefits as well as instantaneous lead sharing integrated into your CRM system when you launch an application or solution in either Azure Marketplace or AppSource. Access to Microsoft's more than 40,000 salespeople, along with that team's set of existing relationships with businesses, could drive significant sales for startups that are selling to other companies. Over the next month, we will open the doors on new Microsoft Reactor spaces in London, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Shanghai and Beijing. These join the existing Reactor spaces in Redmond, Seattle, San Francisco, and NY.
Microsoft launched a new program created to help startups get off the ground and into Microsoft's ecosystem of cloud services on Monday, overhauling its BizSpark program and giving it a catchy new name.
Microsoft Ventures is Microsoft's strategic venture capital investment team whose mission is to be an active partner at key stages of a startup's growth, typically investing between Series A and D. Microsoft is excited to partner with startups to empower every person and organization on the planet.
