"Loris will start", Klopp told the club's website. Whilst Mignolet has at times not helped himself, it's always seemed Karius would be the pick if everything else was equal.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to dismiss the possibility of Simon Mignolet leaving in the summer but does not see the Belgium international's future as something that should concern him for the time being.
It remains to be seen if Roma bow to Alisson's wish but their need to comply with Financial Fair Play could force them to listen to offers for the Brazilian in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also believed to be interest in his services. "We had a little talk before the game, asking him what he thought " "No, I'm fine, boss".
"There were a few really good saves, important saves, good decisions - really smart decisions with quick restarts and stuff like that".
The Belgium global was Klopp's Premier League goalkeeper of choice for the first half of the season, with Karius appearing in just three matches in the top flight prior to the turn of the year.
"He was involved in the game, was open and it was just a good performance from him".
And when asked if Mignolet's recent lack of involvement meant he could be on his way out at Anfield, Klopp was coy in his response.
"I don't know yet if [Gomez will] be available on Wednesday, but I think he has a chance", said the German coach. It says nothing about that, I would say. I have to make a decision for tomorrow night and that's all.
Karius has been the favoured goalkeeper in the Champions League this season, with Mignolet only featuring in the two qualifiers against Hoffenheim.
