The following day, first daughter Ivanka Trump tweeted: "Just saw Oprah's empowering & inspiring speech at last night's GoldenGlobes. I don't think she's going to run", said the Republican president, 71.
Winfrey was a popular surrogate for President Obama.
The press secretary added: "Is she a successful individual?"
"I don't think at this point she is actually considering it", King said. "I don't think she had any intention [of declaring]".
Whether this is a serious reality or not, one woman in New Jersey, 30-year-old Anastasia Khramova, was so inspired by Winfrey's Golden Globes speech that she started an online petition in her community in East Windsor, Mercer County, first sending the Care2 to a few of her friends.
The Speech touched on female and black empowerment, her roots in poverty and support of those who speak up about sexual abuse and harassment.
"It's up to the people", Graham said. "She would absolutely do it".
Still, if it's possible for a former reality TV star with zero political experience to become president of the United States, surely it's possible for Oprah to change her mind. King suggested, however, that the actress was "intrigued" by the idea of running.
King noted that there are already people lining up to be Winfrey's campaign manager and volunteers for a potential bid.
While Winfrey hasn't said anything official herself, she's said to be "actively considering" the idea. "That's how he interpreted the question", King said. Would she want to endure nasty speculation about her relationship with Gayle and Stedman?
After audience laughter died down, she grew serious and said: "No, that won't be happening". "I was up talking to her late last night".
Winfrey never mentioned running for office.
It's not surprising Oprah's stirring Golden Globes Awards show speech has stirred speculation about her running for president.
He said Winfrey's huge public profile would be of a benefit to her. "She's good. She's great".
Much of the awards ceremony had that focus.
