Franco was booked on the show to discuss The Disaster Artist, a film he stars in and directed, and for which he won the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy, but the recent wave of accusations against him made the topic of his alleged misconduct unavoidable.
Franco allegedly asked the women on the set, "So, who wants to take your shirt off?".
Even when he learned she was not, he asked whether or not he should rent a hotel room and asked her to join him.
It "was like a slap in my face", said Sarah Tither-Kaplan, a former acting student at the film school Franco founded who went on to appear in several of his productions.
Tither-Kaplan also said she saw one woman fired after she refused to do one of Franco's requested nude scenes.
And other two former students of Franco's, Natalie Chmiel and Hilary Dusome, also accused him of inappropriate behavior.
While doing the rounds for The Disaster Artist, James has been questioned about the allegations, and stated in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night that the claims made about him were "not accurate".
Paley, who dated Franco in 2016, has now said that the actor of pressured her into performing oral sex on him. "He is really hurt because he didn't know that we would be in a place where giving someone a voice would be giving someone a license to speak without any accountability".
Some of the stories in the LA Times piece involve Franco's behavior while teaching acting at various acting schools.
Two of the women, Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Violet Paley, had immediately tweeted about the actor's "Time's Up" pin and described how he had treated them in the past.
A month after the Gawker story, in May 2014, Franco posted a suggestive selfie to his public Instagram account.
When Colbert asked Franco for his take on the issue, the actor admitted that he hasn't read any of it but he's heard of it. "I got it in my head pretty quickly that, OK, you don't say "no" to this guy", she said.
"If I have done something wrong", he added, "I will fix it - I have to".
"I was sent a couple of the tweets". She said he apologized for ever making her feel uncomfortable. At the time, Franco said he was "embarrassed" by the situation, and social media was "tricky". "In my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but sometimes it gets published for the world", he said.
