As noted by the announcement, PUBG Corp. has already launched four updates to improve the game's console performance in about as many weeks, and they remain "determined to continue to improve the in-game experience" for those enjoying the showdown on Xbox One.
The update also adds a new controller preset, fixing one of the biggest fundamental issues with the game's control scheme since launch. PUBG hasn't performed quite as well on the Xbox One as it has on PC in terms of optimization and smoothness, but this update and future patches should move closer to resolving those issues and putting the game more in line with the battle royale hit that exploded onto PC past year.

One of the most notable changes that players will notice straight away is that Pistols have been removed from Y button's weapon rotation and grouped with the melee weapon.
Thanks to the new update, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players on Xbox One should now be able to use the best guns in the game without accidentally equipping their pistol in the midst of battle. Also, the Xbox One uses a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard, the latter being a setup many players believe is mandatory to be truly competitive in the game.
Enhanced server performance while parachuting.
A message from Bluehole Inc. confirms: "As part of that update, we have made a decision to include some additional performance and gameplay improvements, as well as a new controller option".
Future updates will bring additional game optimization and a new map called Miramar.
Fixed the inability to join duo/squad through invites outside of game.
PUBG Corporation seems to have found a victor no matter what platform it's on, and Microsoft seems to have found a game that is actually getting people to play the Xbox One for once.
