The former Real Madrid midfielder has just six months remaining on his contract and will be a free agent in the coming summer.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still has hopes that the club can convince Ozil to extend his contract and is prepared to lose the German worldwide on a free, rather than cashing in on him this month.
"With the players he'd be playing with at Man Utd as well, he is unbelievable".
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has claimed that Mesut Ozil would "sprinkle stardust" if he joined Manchester United.
GETTY Mesut Ozil could be destined to play under Jose Mourinho again
Hinting that Mesut Ozil has not realised his full potential at Arsenal due to the lack of top class talent at the club, Wright said, "He is just awesome, and with the right team, and the right movement in front of him, he is easily one of the best I've seen".
"He's unbelievable. Is this hard to say?" Yeah. And we can't keep arguably two of the best players, arguably in the history of the club, ability-wise.
Despite his contract situation, Ozil has fared quite decently for Arsenal in the 2017/18 season.
Ozil, who missed Wednesday's goalless draw against Chelsea in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final, arrived from Madrid in 2013 and has netted 27 goals and recorded 47 assists in 134 league appearances.
In terms of a potential replacement, Wright seems keen on the idea of Riyad Mahrez heading to the Emirates, but admitted that the departure of Ozil and Sanchez could well leave a gaping void at the club that will be nearly impossible to fill.
