From 2007 to 2011, Indiana's graduation rate steadily climbed from 78 percent to 87 percent.
Four local high schools were among the rankings of over sixty schools that had a 90 percent or higher graduation rate within the state of West Virginia. "That's what we're here for is to get them to graduate".
"With the stuff that we have in place, we're starting to see a stabilization as far as what that graduation rate looks like", Bonnell said.
EACS was down similarly in 2017, with a graduation rate of 91.36 percent at its high schools and non-waiver rate of 81.11 percent.
Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick says "our schools are committed to the academic success of our students". In 2016, the school saw 94.2 percent of the cohort graduate.
Only standard diplomas are counted as graduates.
"We are proud of Homestead High School's graduation rates", said Homestead principal Park Ginder.
The 2017 state high school graduation figures came in lower than the previous year. IN requires students to pass state tests to graduate unless they can get a waiver by meeting other criteria. "We are very glad our students are seeing the importance of graduation".
FWCS' graduation rate was a few tenths of a percent lower in 2017 at 88.95 percent, and the non-waiver rate was down 2 percentage points to 76.6 percent.
