Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been sucked into the continuing Alexis Sanchez saga as Arsenal look for ways to replace their want-away Chilean superstar, reportedly asking about the young French forward as part of some kind of exchange deal.
The 29-year-old has just over six months left on his current contract at the Emirates and there's absolutely no chance of him extending that, whereas Arséne Wenger is keen on importing Bordeaux starlet Malcom. Guardiola, though, wants nothing to distract his players as they prepare for Sunday's Premier League visit to Liverpool, and continue their pursuit of four trophies.
Wenger said: "Of course I want a quick resolution". Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott all have 18 months remaining on their deals, and Wenger believes he knows why more and more players are choosing to run down their contracts.
Ozil may still need convincing, though, and could be waiting to see what reinforcements are brought in by the club in this January transfer window. "You conclude that", he said.
"As a professional, you'd have to say that the balance of power is starting to come back to an even keel nearly and then going City's way".
"I think it's a good investment because we are talking about a top player and I'm hearing that the amount is around £20m".
Whatever side does end up with Sanchez will be getting one of the best players in the Premier League, as he is a serial creator and scorer of chances.
The Premier League leaders had a £60m bid for the Chile global accepted in August, only for the proposed transfer to collapse as Arsenal failed in their attempt to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco as a replacement.
The German has been in scintillating form this season, scoring nine times, but would certainly face competition for minutes should Sanchez sign.
Wenger also confirmed that he has no intention of leaving himself, amidst continuing question marks over his own position.
He last 45 minutes in the 2-0 win over Derby in the FA Cup, although Mourinho said the decision to substitute him at half-time had been "unfair".
"I think in two, three weeks he will be ready again with us". "I'm always committed. I'm here for 21 years". And that's what you try to do.
