Apple announced plans for a new site on Wednesday, along with a 5-year, $30 billion USA spending plan that will generate 20,000 jobs and an expected payment of $38 billion in taxes on its foreign profits. The company - which is the largest USA taxpayer - said it also expects to pay repatriation tax payments of about $38 billion, which are required by the new tax law.

"I don't know what Apple is looking for, but whatever it is, we're going to go compete and we're going to put our best foot forward", Emanuel told the paper.
As for Amazon, members of the Chicago council have presented up to 10 potential sites, which include the Lincoln Yards, a South Loop location near the Chicago River, and the site formerly occupied by Michael Reese Hospital.
