In a sad statement made via his spokesperson, Ant announced that after 11 years of marriage, he and his wife Lisa would be getting a divorce.
It was added: "Ant asks for privacy at this hard time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families". After leaving rehab in August he moved into a £1.6 million rented house close to the £6 million marital home he had shared with Lisa.
"No further statement will be made".
Ant, 42, who has battled a prescription drugs addiction will split from his wife "to do the right thing for his health". "They've been having problems for ages", following the news of the divorce.
'The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months.
There's been no word from either party on social media since news of their split broke, with Lisa's most recent tweet - posted on New Year's Eve - showing her in cartoon form throwing out a bag of stinking rubbish labeled 2017. "He's given it a good go".
The couple met at a roadshow in Newcastle in the mid-1990s while Lisa was an aspiring pop star in Deuce. They've met up and spoken about it a number of times and this is the decision he has made. He is obviously really upset about it'.
"Gutted for Ant and Lisa" wrote one fan, with another adding, 'Really sad to hear that Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong have not been able to work things out'.
Ant and Dec and their wives Lisa Armstrong and Ali Astall arrive at Buckingham Palace, where the pair were awarded OBEs by the Prince of Wales at an Investiture ceremony on January 2017 in London.
"He wants it to be amicable and friendly".
Ant and Lisa have been together for over 20 years and married for 11.
His marriage to Lisa Armstrong has faced challenges during a tough period for the star and The Sun's weird column exclusively revealed they were to divorce.
