Malcolm has been lighting up Ligue 1 with Bordeaux, Youtube has a dedicated list of videos showing his fantastic dribbling skills and unstoppable long-range shots, that will surely get Arsenal fans tongues wagging.
The Premier League leaders have always been linked with signing the Chilean forward, and had a reported £60m offer for him accepted by Arsenal on deadline day last summer. The latter does not technically start work until February but given he helped Barcelona to navigate one of the most complicated, and controversial, transfers in recent history with their signing of Neymar from Santos, any advance input would probably be welcomed as Arsenal try and fill a Sanchez-sized hole in their team.
At the same time, United boss Jose Mourinho described Sanchez as "phenomenal", seemingly signaling Old Trafford interest in the contract rebel.
However, Wenger believes that Ozil could remain in north London.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Sanchez will not be allowed to leave the Emirates in January unless they can sign a replacement, with the Gunners to be meeting with Bordeaux to discuss a potential deal for Brazilian winger Malcom.
Wenger, who completes a three-match touchline ban at Bournemouth, feels the trip to the south coast is crucial as he returns to the league following a disappointing FA Cup exit to Nottingham Forest last Sunday and a goalless draw at Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday.
"City have a very comfortable advantage and they can sit on that; it is the sort of lead that gives a lot of tranquillity and takes away the pressure from the guy that comes behind you".
But Wenger reiterated his stance that this is the new normal because of inflated transfer fees that make it more profitable for players to run down their contracts and then ask for massive signing fees and wages from their new club instead.
"You look at Manchester City and they're so far ahead of everybody else, not just in points but in the way and style they play".
"But I like my squad, I like my players; the more time I spend with them, the more I like them".
"Sanchez is an Arsenal player", Mourinho added.
What Arsenal do have to consider carefully is who they replace Sanchez with - and potentially Theo Walcott, of course, who is in talks with Everton over a permanent deal too. "I've never questioned his commitment or attitude". I just do, in every single decision I make, what is right for the club. Do I stay for one year or ten years it is exactly the same.
